Introduction to role:
Are you ready to turn performance data into decisive action that accelerates value across a global enterprise? Do you see patterns in KPIs that others miss, and translate them into clear standards, sharper priorities and measurable outcomes?
Based in Bangalore, you will be part of the GBS Service Excellence & Performance team within the COO organization. You will assist in shifting GBS from activity reporting to performance management. This change aims to drive better decisions, increase efficiency, and enhance business. Your work will develop how performance is measured, governed, reviewed, and improved across services, towers, hubs, and transformation initiatives. This effort will help AstraZeneca move faster, operate smarter, and free up more time and resources for science and patients. atients.
You will work closely with operations, analytics, technology, and finance to define the performance framework. You will challenge anything that does not support decision-making. You will build trusted, explainable repoFrom day one, you will set standards, build scorecards and bring external perspectives that improve service health, client results and utcomes and enterprise value.
Accountabilities:
Performance Management Framework and important metric Governance: Build, embed and evolve the GBS performance oversight system. Define principles, review rhythms, standard formats and governance routines that drive accountability and improvement. Own the benchmark Catalogue standards across functions, divisions, regions, and leadership levels—clarifying benchmark purpose, ownership, data origins, computation methods, targets, thresholds and reporting frequency. Identify duplication or gaps and simplify where it adds clarity and value.
Scorecards, Dashboards and Performance Views: Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for scorecards and dashboards. Partner with reporting, analytics and technology teams to build user-focused views that highlight service health, performance trends, risks, customer outcomes and efficiency improvements. Rationalise fragmented reports and challenge outputs that do not enable decisions or actions.
Data and Reporting Governance: Improve the quality, reliability and consistency of performance data. Set expectations for data ownership, lineage, origins, computational methods, reporting controls and data quality. Work across GBS Services, Process & Analytics Services, Finance and other partners to resolve data gaps and conflicting definitions. Ensure reporting is explainable, governed and fit for decision-making.
Enable Performance Review Cycles: Prepare and continuously improve recurring review cycles, including COO reviews, QBRs, monthly leadership and hub reviews. Define standard packs and insight formats that help leaders quickly understand performance, root causes and actions. Track actions and blocking issues so insights turn into visible progress.
Insights, Benchmarking and External Data Advisory: Convert business questions into structured insight requests. Synthesize internal data, collaborator input and external benchmarks (such as Hackett or a comparable source) to reveal performance gaps, maturity differences and efficiency opportunities. Interpret benchmarks in context and translate findings into practical improvement plans.
Stakeholder Engagement and Senior Influence: Build strong relationships across GBS, transformation teams and enabling functions. Facilitate workshops to define needs, validate insights and agree actions. Communicate complex topics in a clear, structured way and challenge constructively to keep focus on measurable outcomes, business value and sustainable improvement.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Relevant experience (9 – 14 years) demonstrating a successful history in enterprise performance management or data & analytics.
Proven track record designing or improving performance management frameworks, KPI structures, scorecards, dashboards or management reporting.
Strong understanding of benchmark building, performance governance, target setting, performance review routines and benefits measurement.
Experience translating business objectives into performance measures, insight requirements and decision-support materials.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure ambiguous business questions and convert data into practical recommendations.
Solid understanding of data and analytics fundamentals, including data flows, data points, data sources, data models, data architecture, data lineage and concepts related to data accuracy and integrity.
Ability to work effectively with analytics, reporting, technology and operational teams to define requirements and improve performance reporting.
Practical working knowledge of AI, generative AI and automation concepts, with an understanding of how these can improve productivity, decision-making, service performance and ways of working.
Confidence using AI tools to support analysis, synthesis, documentation, insight generation and stakeholder communication.
Ability to influence senior collaborators and provide constructive critique where measures, assumptions, data or benefits are unclear.
Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills; ability to create executive-ready materials.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed and cross-cultural environment.
Fluent English, written and spoken
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Experience within a global shared services or GBS environment, ideally across multiple service towers or hubs.
Hands-on expertise with business intelligence and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and familiarity with data pipeline concepts.
Exposure to ERP and workflow platforms (e.g., SAP/S4HANA, ServiceNow) and their data models.
Lean Six Sigma certification or proven experience in continuous improvement and benefits realization.
Experience partnering with external benchmark providers (e.g., Hackett or equivalent) and translating benchmarks into targeted improvement actions.
Consistent record leading executive performance reviews and action-tracking routines.
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Analytics, Business, Engineering) is an advantage.
